Sam, the Collie that i had the question about last night:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnnPrbVXuGZGJSX.Z310qd_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080519185348AAy13aK

Well, it turns out that he had to be put down. He ended up having an overgrown heart. The worst part is that his owners are not here, they had to be emailed for permission to put him down by the vet.

Anyways, i cant help but think that there was something i could do to help him more. I think i know that there isnt, but i'm telling myself there is. Is there any way to convince myself it wasnt my fault? Is there anything i can do?

    Also,
What can i do for the owners?
Their other dog thats still here?

What can i do to help?
is there anything i can do?

    Thanks

    Bluberry

Congestive heart failure is a slow-developing condition. The dog gets sicker and sicker and then dies. But 16 is a huge age for a collie, like you living into your 90s.

Why did they not leave the dogs in your care? With the owners' permission you could go over and pay some attention to their other dog.

I'm sorry he had to be put down. There doesn't seem to be anything you could have done, except exactly what you did do. The poor dog was not left to suffer and die alone, and was humanely euthanized. He was lucky you were there, or he might have suffered for days until the owner got back.
